Antoine Semenyo picks former Leeds United rival he hated facing | OneFootball

Asked about facing Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds, Antoine Semenyo said: "Tough. Kalvin Phillips. I played in the 10 that day and he gave me a tough day."

He was speaking to Away Days.

"Oh man. He is a good player. He's just obviously gone to a team with so many superstars."

"It’s just unfortunate, but he’s a top top player. He gave me a tough time in the office. I’ll tell you that."

Semenyo has faced Leeds United three times, including earlier this season when Bournemouth earned a point with a last-minute equaliser at Elland Road. His first meeting with the Whites was in March 2019 in the Championship, with Bielsa in charge and Phillips at the heart of midfield.

Phillips has struggled for minutes since moving to Manchester City, having fallen out of favour with Guardiola. He has been linked with a return to Leeds and has played just seven minutes of football in all competitions. Phillips recently turned 30.
