Arouna Sangante has joined Sevilla as their third summer addition, signing as a free agent after leaving Le Havre. According to La Colina De Nervion, the centre-back has agreed a contract running to 30 June 2031.
Despite holding Senegal and Guinea-Bissau nationality, he will not occupy a non-EU slot thanks to the Cotonou Agreement. The provision covers nationals of African, Caribbean and Pacific states, a status he shares at Sevilla with Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.
His profile has drawn excitement among observers, with comparisons to Koundé and Diego Carlos. He is regarded as a very aggressive centre-back with marked maturity.
Sangante captained Le Havre at 24, underlining his personality, yet he must better judge the force of his tackles. He received four red cards in five months, and this will be a key area to refine under Luis García Plaza.
With defence reinforced by Juan Iglesias and Sangante, Sevilla’s focus turns to a goalkeeper and a centre-forward. Diego Conde is seen as the most attainable option in goal, though Vlachodimos remains the favourite. Up front, Joselu Mato and Adrián Liso are currently the leading candidates.
