In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor. It has been claimed that the Gunners would have to compete with Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to land the Italian centre-back in this transfer window.

Ahanor’s Impressive Form In Serie A

Ahanor enjoyed a decent run of form at the Italian club in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 18-year-old found the back of the net once in 35 matches for Atalanta last season across all competitions.

The Italian talent is currently one of the most promising centre-backs in Serie A. Hence, the Gunners would do well to lure him to the Emirates Stadium later this year.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Arsenal to land him on the cheap this off-season.

Arsenal Are Among The Clubs Monitoring Ahanor: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Ahanor is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.84m, the Italian whizkid can use his strong frame to win a few important 50-50 aerial duels for his team. Ahanor is primarily a centre-back but can also fill in as a left-back or as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to snap him up in this transfer window.

We can expect Ahanor to add more bite and steel to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s defence. He is currently good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the North London club’s squad.

At 18, the future looks quite promising for Ahanor as long as he continues to improve with each season. With all things considered, the Gunners would be wise to move in for him this summer as he is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future.
