In a recent report, Defensa Central revealed that Arsenal are set to rival Manchester City for Stuttgart midfielder Chema Andres. It has been stated that the Gunners are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Spanish talent next year.
The 20-year-old has proven his worth as a decent contributor for Stuttgart at the centre of the park. Andres has found the back of the net once and earned one assist in 12 matches for the German club this season across various competitions.
The talented youngster has anchored the midfield with conviction as he made ten tackles, ten blocks, 13 interceptions and 18 clearances in the Bundesliga. He has even been careful when distributing the ball after completing 84.2% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Bundesliga club will expire in the summer of 2030. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.

Andres is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well to make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and excels at playing his way out from midfield.
Andres is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. However, the Spanish talent needs to add more goals and assists to his game. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to bring him on board next year.
Andres would bring more quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the North London club in the coming years.
At 20, Andres has the potential to be a future star in English football. Hence, it makes sense for Arteta to move in for him this January or at the end of this season. However, Arteta has to give him some time to settle into life in the English capital before he can unlock the best out of him.
