Aston Villa want to re-sign Tammy Abraham to keep their title challenge alive, per The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath

Abraham spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Villa, scoring 26 goals in 40 appearances to help them secure Premier League promotion.

However, signing him again would be complicated as the English striker is on loan at Besiktas from AS Roma.

The move will be made permanent for £11.2 million if certain conditions are met.

Abraham’s wages could also be a stumbling block as he is currently earning around £115,000 per week.

Villa have collected 43 points from 21 league games. Despite the 4-1 thrashing at Arsenal, the Lions are only six points behind the leaders

Targeting Abraham shows their intent to hunt down the Gunners in the title race.

Ollie Watkins has been underwhelming this season, scoring seven goals in 28 matches across all competitions.

Manager Unai Emery wants to bring support for the 30-year-old, who has started all but three of Villa’s Premier League fixtures.

Abraham could be a superb addition, as he is highly rated for his physical presence, movement and finishing ability.

He has scored 12 goals in 24 games for Besiktas this season.
