Aston Villa have been fined £570,000 by the Premier League for repeated late kick-offs last season. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the sanctions cover multiple breaches across the 2026-27 campaign.

The club admitted responsibility for delaying either the first or second half on 10 occasions. Eight of those saw restarts between 90 seconds and two minutes beyond schedule.

The first breach came in August’s 1-0 defeat at Brentford, punished by a £5,000 fine. Penalties increased with each infringement, including £100,000 after February’s 1-1 home draw with Leeds, when both halves began late.

The final incident was March’s 4-1 home loss to Chelsea, when the second half started late. That offence drew a £130,000 fine, with a further £20,000 added because of the club’s repeat breaches, taking the total to £150,000 for that match.

In a sanction agreement published by the league, Villa accepted all breaches, apologised and pledged to improve compliance. The competition’s timing rules are intended to maintain professional standards, give certainty to fans and clubs, and keep broadcasts on schedule.
