The Villans are having a busy summer transfer window both in terms of arrivals as well as departures, and the club are in line to receive a £117m boost to their transfer kitty following the exit of Morgan Rogers.

The cash will certainly help manager Unai Emery to make key additions to the squad, which he has already done in the transfer market with the signings of Joao Gomes from Wolves and Johan Manzambi from Freiburg.

But the club are also looking to bring in quality reinforcements to their attack this summer and have been linked with AC Milan star Leao.

During discussions with AC Milan over signing Pervis Estupinan, Aston Villa tested the water on Leao’s availability in the first indication of solid interest.

And in Italy, Aston Villa’s interest in Leao ‘is considered concrete’, though talks between the two clubs are not yet at an advanced stage, according to Italian outlet Milan Live.

The Rossoneri are looking for a transfer fee of around £42m and £50m, and the idea is to reinvest it in the transfer market to help manager Ruben Amorim make new signings this summer.

However, Aston Villa could face competition for Leao’s signature, as Tottenham Hotspur have been keeping tabs on his situation at San Siro.

Leao arrived at AC Milan from French outfit Lille in the summer of 2019 and still has two years left on his current deal with the Rossoneri.

The 27-year-old attacker endured a mixed campaign last term, but managed to make 13 goal contributions in 31 games across all competitions for the Italian club.

Aston Villa could meet AC Milan’s asking price to sign Leao this summer given the money brought in for Rogers and the Portugal international ‘wouldn’t veto’ a move to Villa Park, as he considers them to be ‘an extremely ambitious club’.

It remains to be seen whether the Villans will table an official bid for Leao in the coming weeks to sign him, or the Portugal international will make a move elsewhere.
