Athletic complete Edin Terzic staff with Imanol Alguacil fitness coach and World Cup set-piece expert | OneFootball

Athletic have finalised Edin Terzic’s backroom team with four key additions, according to El Correo. The hires include set-piece and strength specialists and complete a seven-strong group alongside Sebastian Geppert, Peter Gaydarov and Óscar de Marcos.

David Casamichana is among the headline arrivals. Born in Laredo, he holds a PhD in Sport and Physical Activity Sciences from the EHU and has worked for Barcelona and Racing Santander. He later served as fitness coach at Real Sociedad during Imanol Alguacil’s tenure.

English coach Andrew Hughes, 48, joins after working as Scotland’s set-piece specialist. He is due in Bilbao on Monday following a brief spell at the World Cup in the United States. Manchester-born, he has been part of the coaching teams at Crystal Palace, Leicester, Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Bolton.

Strength specialist Manu Crespo arrives from Racing. He has coached elite footballers on an individual basis and previously worked with the Astana cycling team.

Alex Albistegui, 39, leaves the Burgos B dugout to become Athletic’s translator. Iñigo Aguinaga, 30, is promoted from the reserves to continue as team psychologist. The first team also adds Ander Altamira, 37, who steps up from the reserves as nutritionist.

Pablo Orbaiz and nutritionist Toscana Viar depart the club, which thanked them and wished them well. Aitor Iru and Iñigo San Millán, head of Sports Science and Physiology, remain in place.
