Barcelona have been dealt another setback, with Robert Lewandowski ruled out for at least four to six weeks after suffering a muscle tear.

The Polish striker’s absence means he will miss several crucial matches, including the much-anticipated El Clasico against Real Madrid later this month.

Already struggling with the injuries of Raphinha and Dani Olmo, Barcelona’s attacking options are severely limited. However, a ray of hope has emerged from within the club’s own ranks.

According to SPORT, Barça Atletic striker Victor Barbera could be considered as a possible short-term solution to fill the void left by Lewandowski.

Barbera’s impressive rise

At 21 years of age, Barbera has been one of Barça Atletic’s standout performers this season.

His sharp instincts inside the box and consistent scoring ability have earned him the affectionate nickname “Barberowski” among those at the club, a nod to his Polish-like finishing prowess.

The young forward has started the campaign in brilliant fashion, scoring five goals and providing one assist in his first six matches.

Statistically, he has been involved in a goal every 61 minutes, a level of efficiency that few can match.

Beyond his finishing, what makes Barbera particularly valuable is his work rate and willingness to press high up the pitch.

Opportunity knocking for the young striker

Until now, Barbera has not been part of Hansi Flick’s first-team plans. But with Lewandowski out and the squad struggling for attacking depth, the youngster could be handed an unexpected opportunity to make his mark.

Barcelona are in desperate need of a natural striker who can lead the line and offer a reliable target in the box. Barbera’s current form suggests he might just be ready to step up.

If he can carry his scoring touch into the senior side, “Barberowski” could become the latest La Masia talent to shine under Flick.
