During his press conference earlier today, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez lashed out against FC Barcelona and the Negreira case.
The 79-year-old businessman went on to call it the ‘biggest scandal in football’, while also stating that it had led to him and the club being robbed of as many as seven La Liga titles.
Perez also confirmed that Real Madrid are preparing a dossier of all the favourable treatment Barcelona receive from match officials which they intend to send to UEFA at the end of the season.
Reacting to the allegations levelled against them by Perez, Barcelona have now issued an official statement, claiming that their legal department is reviewing the Real Madrid chief’s accusations before proceeding with the next step.
“Regarding the press conference called by Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez, we inform you that our legal department is carefully reviewing his statements and accusations,” the statement from the La Liga champions read.
“These are currently being analyzed, and the next steps are being assessed. We will provide further information on our position and any decisions made when appropriate.”
Real Madrid have taken a firm stance against Negreira case for some time now, with the club even participating in the court investigations as a private prosecutor.
Perez has time and again made it clear that he and the club will keep on fighting until the end, which has led to the relationship between Real Madrid and Barcelona to break down completely.
