Barcelona are looking to resolve the future of defender Andreas Christensen as soon as possible, with the club issuing a clear ultimatum regarding his contract situation.
According to a report from MARCA, Barcelona have informed Christensen’s representatives that they will not allow negotiations to drag on indefinitely.
The Catalan club have already submitted what they consider their final contract proposal and are now waiting for the player’s response.
Christensen’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, placing Barcelona in a delicate position.
The situation has been complicated by the defender’s difficult campaign, as injuries have severely limited his involvement throughout the 2025/26 season.
So far this season, Christensen has managed to make only 17 appearances across all competitions, accumulating just 515 minutes of playing time.
Despite those concerns, Barcelona have still opened the door to extending the defender’s stay at the club.
Negotiations between the club and the player’s agent have been ongoing for several weeks, but no agreement has been reached.

At this stage, Barcelona have decided to take a strong stance in order to avoid prolonged uncertainty.
The club’s proposal includes a two-year contract extension, but under significantly different financial conditions compared to Christensen’s current deal.
Barcelona’s offer would see the defender earn approximately half of his current salary each season, although the contract includes multiple performance-based incentives that could increase his earnings.
Under the proposed structure and considering his fitness history, Christensen would receive bonuses depending on how frequently he features in matches.
Specific incentives would be triggered if he participates in 30-40% of games, another tier would apply for 40-50%, and a final bonus would be activated if he appears in more than half of the team’s matches.
Should the Danish defender reach that highest threshold, his total salary could increase by more than 50% percent compared to the base figure offered in the contract.
However, the agreement also contains protective clauses for the club.
If Christensen fails to participate in at least 30% of matches during the first season, Barcelona would have the option to terminate the contract by paying a compensation fee significantly lower than his full annual salary.
