FC Barcelona have made two exciting signings for the first team in this summer transfer window so far. First, even before the start of the transfer window, they completed the transfer of the winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Then, they landed the German forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.

Both of these players are good additions to the squad, and will provide Hansi Flick with significantly greater variety in his attacking options, as the Blaugranes are clearly aiming to win the UEFA Champions League next season.

However, neither of them has been the first new player to be registered by Barcelona with La Liga, as Mundo Deportivo reports that this honor lies with the defender Hector Fort, who already appears on the La Liga website as a Blaugrana player, although without a number assigned yet. Gordon and Adeyemi, on the other hand, have not yet been registered.

Fort returned to the Catalan club this summer after having spent the last season on loan at Elche. This was quite a fruitful stint for the defender, as he appeared in 17 games for Elche, scoring three goals and providing two assists. These numbers could easily have been higher if he had not suffered an injury in late December which kept him out of action for around four months.

With Barcelona this summer, he has already played in the training game against Europa, and is also a part of the group that is training in England. If he remains in Flick’s squad next season, he will be competing with another young fullback, Xavi Espart, for a role on the right-back position, where Jules Kounde is currently the starter and Eric Garcia is another experienced player available to Flick.

Hector Fort made his debut with the Barcelona first team back in 2023, when Xavi Hernandez put him on the pitch in a UEFA Champions League game against Antwerp, and he already has 30 first-team appearances under his belt.
