Barcelona send message to Real Sociedad after Copa del Rey triumph | OneFootball

La Liga champions Barcelona have sent a message the way of Real Sociedad, after the Txuri-urdin replaced the Catalans as Copa del Rey champions.

La Real are of course fresh off a special night on Saturday.

After battling past Basque rivals Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the competition, Sociedad were tasked with getting the better of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

And when all was said and done in an entertaining affair, this is precisely what Pellegrino Matarazzo’s troops managed.

After the two sides could not be separated across 120 minutes of action, the underdogs triumphed on penalties, by four goals to three.

Messages of appreciation and congratulations have since come flooding in for Real Sociedad, from across Spain and beyond.

And as alluded to above, quick to add their name to this list of well-wishers were last season’s Copa del Rey champions.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms, the Blaugrana wrote:
