In an interview with Denmark’s Tipsbladet, Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Bayer Leverkusen might be interested in taking on habitually discontented Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind. At this juncture anyone covering the Bundesliga takes Wind transfer rumors with the proverbial grain-of-salt. There could nevertheless be some truth to talk of Wind wishing to re-unite with former Danish national team head coach Kasper Hjulmand, under whom he once thrived.

As the Wolfsburg administrative crisis deepens, the VWers  find themselves in no position to deny outgoing transfer requests. Leverkusen themselves do already have a classic center forward in top form. After bagging a brace in the most recent league fixture against Heidenheim, Czech international Patrik Schick has now scored seven goals in 12 appearances across all competitions for die Werkself this year.

Matters get complicated, however, when arrives at the case of Schick’s back-up Christiane Kofane. The 19-year-old Cameroonian striker continues to resist attempts by his country’s FA to call him up for international duty. Cameroon’s FECAFOOT still remains undeterred and attempted to call Kofane up again in November. After reportedly initially accepting the call up, Kofane opted to decline after all.

The 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco is set to begin in a little over a month’s time. It might prove the case that Leverkusen must do without Kofane for an extended period in January. Di Marzio specifically referenced Leverkusen interest in his interview with the Danish publication. A deal between Germany’s green and red company clubs could be advantageous for all parties.
