Bundesliga champions prepare to do battle as Los Blancos eye a key forward
Real Madrid are set to accelerate their push to sign Michael Olise after Florentino Perez was re-elected as the club’s president - but Bayern Munich remain adamant the Frenchman is not for sale.
Perez has been in his post since 2009 and, per exit polls reported by COPE, Marca and Diario AS, has comfortably beaten Enrique Riquelme in this year’s elections.
While on the campaign trail, he promised to bring another Galactico to the club, with a nine-figure bid mooted, and reports in the Telegraph have since revealed Olise as his secret target.
Bayern, though, will not let Olise go without a fight. They have been on a media charm offensive since Perez issued his promise, telling anyone who will listen that the ex-Crystal Palace winger, who racked up a remarkable 53 goal contributions in 52 appearances this season, is strictly not for sale.

They have brought out the big guns, too. Club legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was among them, saying: "There is no price tag for a player like Olise that would make us flinch."
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer echoed the call, telling Perez not to even bother sending an offer: "Michael Olise is a player of FC Bayern München, and he is under a long-term contract. We are not a selling club.
“If Florentino Pérez wants to send us a bid - which has not happened so far - he can save himself the trouble."
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Perez will deliver on his promise and make a move to sign Olise, or heed the clear warnings emanating from Munich.
Olise has now joined up with the French national team and is getting ready for the World Cup. His head coach there, Didier Deschamps shrugged off any questions about the player’s future at club level, saying there was no bad choice between Bayern and Real.
"He will know very well whether he wants to stay at FC Bayern Munich or whether he needs a change of scenery,” said the Frenchman.
“There is no right or wrong choice. If I were in Kompany's position or in the position of the Bayern president, it would of course be very, very good to have him in the team and to keep him at Bayern.
“But I can imagine that he will also receive offers from other clubs."
