It is a crucial week for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and Champions League. They will face defending Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen next weekend at Bay Arena. A win will stretch Die Roten’s lead to 11 points over Leverkusen and significantly improve their chances of bringing the title to Allianz Arena.

Before the trip to Leverkusen, Bayern face Celtic in the first round of the play-off clash in the Champions League. Die Roten will travel to Scotland on Wednesday. A positive result in the first leg will help Bayern to have one foot in the round of 16.

Ahead of the clash against Celtic, Bayern has received mixed news about the availability of senior players on the sidelines.

Hiroki Ito continues to train with the first team.

According to Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau, Hiroki Ito has taken part in full training with the first team. The Japanese defender is closing on a return to action, but it remains to be seen if he will be part of the matchday squad on Wednesday.

Ito is yet to make his competitive debut for Bayern since arriving from VfB Stuttgart in the summer. The Japanese defender suffered two serious injuries that kept him out for six months. Bayern will look to slowly integrate him in the first team to avoid further injury setbacks. His return to action will give Kompany more options in the heart of defense.

Joao Palhinha likely to miss game against Celtic

Bayern were without Joao Palhinha against Werder Bremen on Friday. The Portuguese midfielder missed the game due to flu. It does look like Palhinha will not be ready for the clash against Celtic. Max Eberl told media on Friday that the Portuguese will likely miss the trip to Scotland.

Meanwhile, Alphonso Davies continues his recovery from a minor muscle injury. The Canadian has been training on the pitch at Sabner Strasse. He will not be fit for the clash against Celtic.

Daniel Peretz is also stepping up the recovery from a kidney injury. The Israeli goalkeeper was spotted training on the pitch at Sabner Strasse. Peretz is still a few days away from training with the first team. He faces competition from Jonas Urbig to be the deputy of Manuel Neuer in the squad.

Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry also had bouts of illness last week, but they made it to the squad against Werder Bremen. Both players are expected to play against Celtic later this week.
