Bayern waiting for Upamecano answer as contract terms unresolved

Bayern Munich are still waiting for Dayot Upamecano’s response to a contract-extension offer, with no final agreement yet, Max Eberl said on Friday.

Abendzeitung reports that two issues remain unresolved, the length of the deal, either 2030 or 2031, and when a €60 million release clause would become active.

Eberl has played down talk that a deal is already done, stressing the club is awaiting the player’s answer and that there are no new developments.

The report adds that Upamecano and his representatives want the clause to take effect as early as 2027, while Bayern prefer to retain control until at least 2028.

Despite the gaps, it would be a “major surprise” if negotiations collapsed, the report said.
