VAR responsibilities at Clydesdale House will be overseen by Matthew MacDermid, with Ross Hardie on Assistant VAR duties.

This is Beaton’s second Celtic match in the Scottish Premiership this season

Beaton has already overseen a Celtic fixture this season. He was the man in the middle for the Hoops’ 2-0 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie last month, issuing five yellow cards during the match.

Last season, Beaton refereed four Celtic games, including two Glasgow Derby encounters. He handed out nine yellow cards while being in charge of Celtic’s 3-0 home victory against theRangers last September and he was also refereed the League Cup final in December, which ended with Celtic dramatically winning on penalties over their rivals.

He went on to referee Celtic’s 5-1 victories against Aberdeen and Kilmarnock at Celtic Park, while also serving as VAR and fourth official in several other domestic matches.

Celtic are top of the league on goal difference from Hearts

Rodgers’ men will be aiming to continue their decent start to the Premiership season after winning three of their first four games whilst also drawing at Ibrox.

Kilmarnock have also started the campaign unbeaten, drawing matches against Livingston, Hibs, Dundee and Motherwell.

Celtic has given the support a Europa League dilemma

Meanwhile, Celtic have announced the prices of their Europa League packages for games against Braga, Sturm Graz, Roma and Utrecht.

Season ticket holders four match package is coming in at £140 [£35 a ticket] for Adults. Concessions are priced at £112 [£28 a ticket] and U13s at £100 [£25 a ticket].

There is talk of a Europa League boycott and also supporters coming off the HCTS with the two for some intertwined. That’s going to be a personal decision for each supporter or family to take.  Many supporters will go with this to register their protest while others will be at the matches regardless to support the team.

Celtic’s ticket prices are the lowest of all the British teams playing in the Europa League this season.

Celtic’s silence since issuing that ill-considered statement on Saturday evening, after a ‘Celtic insider’ stuck the proverbial knife in the manager’s back on Friday evening – a case of blaming Brendan first then blaming everyone else from the media for doing their jobs to UEFA, agents, supporters on social media and just about anyone else they could think of.

Pathetic stuff from whoever wrote it and posted it at 9pm on a Saturday night. The club should come out, own up to the error and begin a dialogue on how to get the show back on the road.  That would hopefully take away the awful dilemma they’ve given to every season ticket holder regarding Europa League attendance.

Sorry seems to be the hardest word right enough.
