Becky Langley (London City Lionesses)
Becky Langley has been appointed as first-team assistant coach at London City Lionesses.
She joins the staff of new head coach Eder Maestre.
Langley was most recently manager of Newcastle United, spending six years there and taking them to back-to-back promotions as they moved into a fully professional era.
They finished fifth in their debut season in the second tier, but she left the role in October 2025, with the team ninth in the table after six matches.
After her departure, she issued a statement, which said: “A major summer of recruitment, along with significant facility improvements, brought many transitions to navigate. We put in considerable effort to build on last season’s excellent fifth-place finish, but early results this season did not reflect the quality of our performances.
“It will take time for the players and staff to fully bond and settle within this new team environment, and I am confident that results will improve as the season goes on.”

Langley had initially been head of women’s football at Northumbria University, taking on the Newcastle team management as part of a partnership between the club’s foundation and the university.
Prior to that, she had coached at Nottingham Forest’s academy while leading the women’s football and futsal programmes at the University of Nottingham.
In quotes circulated to the media, Langley said: “I’m really excited to be here at London City, to be in the Women’s Super League is something I’m enthusiastic and excited about.
“I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going. I think the project has no ceiling here, having an owner who is so ambitious for success at London City and in women’s football is really exciting.
“The talent we have in this squad, it was a no-brainer for me to join the project. My role is to support Eder and the team, to be a winning team and to push to be one of the best teams in the WSL.”
London City Lionesses travel to play bottom-of-the-table Liverpool this weekend.
