Benfica confirm Rafa Silva return on 2028 deal

The club said in a statement on Thursday evening that Rafa Silva has returned, the 32-year-old former Portugal international signing until 2028 after a move from Besiktas.

He will wear the number 27 shirt. Earlier reports had outlined his expected pay at the club.

The move ends a saga that began in November 2025, when he fell out with Besiktas's coach and board, refused to play and sought a winter exit, with Benfica identified as his preferred destination.

This season for Besiktas he has made 16 competitive appearances, 10 in the Türkiye league, four in the Conference League and two in Europa League qualifying.

Across 1,360 minutes he has scored five goals and provided three assists. He is valued at five million euros.
