Benfica’s interest in Raphael Guerreiro is not expected to move forward, Glorioso 1904 understands, with the operation seen as highly difficult at this stage.
One major obstacle is the defender’s salary as his Bayern Munich contract nears its end. His current pay level is viewed as beyond Benfica’s structure, and the club will not enter bidding wars.
His age, 33 in December, is also a factor under consideration. In the new cycle, the Lisbon club want a better balance between experience and future returns, so this profile is not a near-term priority.
Marco Silva’s arrival is shaping the market approach. The head coach and hierarchy are aligned on exploring other options on the left of defence, and there is currently no active plan to pursue the player.
In 2025/26 with Bayern Munich, Guerreiro made 29 appearances, 18 in the Bundesliga, seven in the Champions League, three in the German Cup and one in the Super Cup. Across 1,210 minutes, he recorded six goals and two assists.
