Benfica are pushing to sign Rio Ave winger André Luiz this month, with Wesley lined up as plan B if negotiations drag.
O Jogo reports that securing André Luiz is a winter priority, but Rio Ave’s demands have led Rui Costa’s board to view Wesley as a viable alternative.
Talks with Rio Ave have been positive, with Benfica prepared to meet the asking price, though there are still no guarantees over the next wide recruit.
Should the André Luiz move not be finalised, Benfica could proceed for Wesley. The club are aware Al Nassr want to sell, and the Saudis are willing to accept less than their initial valuation.
André Luiz, valued at €4 million, has played 18 matches this season, 17 in the league and one in the cup, totalling 1,390 minutes. He has seven goals and five assists, and is under contract until June 2029.
