Bertrand Traoré is assessing his next move after leaving Sunderland earlier this summer.

According to RMC, Sunderland are in advanced talks with Toulouse for left back Dayann Methalie and have an agreement with the 20-year-old. The report says a package of about £25 million is under discussion and, if a fee is settled, he would sign a five-year deal.

Traoré became a regular for Régis Le Bris in the first half after a deadline-day switch from Ajax, but an Africa Cup of Nations injury halted him. He came on once at Leeds United at Elland Road, suffered a recurrence, and did not play again. Sunderland then chose not to trigger their option to extend his deal.

FC Porto, last season’s Primeira Liga winners and Champions League entrants, have enquired, and Traoré previously worked with head coach Francesco Farioli at Ajax. Al Shabab and Nice have also asked about the 30-year-old, and while nothing has progressed, Premier League sides are monitoring.

Sunderland are also targeting a new right winger, with AS Roma Matías Soulé among the options. The left side is a priority after Dennis Cirkin’s free exit, with Arthur Masuaku expected to go amid Konyaspor interest, leaving Reinildo as the only recognised left back and in the second and last year of his deal.
