Boca loanee Simón Rivero suffers serious knee injury, faces months out | OneFootball

Boca have been hit by a serious knee injury to loanee Simón Rivero at Tigre, with the midfielder set to miss several months.

Tigre said in a statement that the attacking midfielder, aged 22, sustained a lateral ligament sprain with anterior cruciate ligament damage in his left knee.

Rivero was hurt during a pre-season friendly against Talleres de Córdoba. Surgery will be scheduled in the coming days, and recovery is expected to take eight to 10 months.

His loan from Boca to Tigre runs until the end of this year. Given the injury, there is a chance he remains in Victoria for longer, or he could return to continue rehabilitation with Boca’s medical staff, as has happened before.

Boca are still without reinforcements. A hitch in the deal for Marino Hinestroza, despite an agreement with Atlético Nacional, has delayed the Colombian’s arrival while paperwork details are corrected.

Talks are also under way with San Lorenzo for Alexis Cuello, with a decision on the forward’s future expected this week. San Lorenzo want three million dollars net for 60% of his rights, and Úbeda is waiting for reinforcements.
