Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund are the second Bundesliga side to show interest in Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell.

Yesterday it was reported that Wolfsburg have held talks with the Ligue 1 side over the England Under-21 international and a potential move to the Autostadt this winter.

As a result, Dortmund have now stepped up their interest in the defender. Die Schwarzgelben have already held talks over Cresswell, but there is still a divide on whether they make a move for him or not. The Preston native is still a target for the Bundesliga in the summer.

Cresswell moved to the South of France in the summer of 2024 from Leeds United for €4.5m. The 23-year-old has since made 52 appearances for Toulouse. This season has seen him already play 17 times and score three goals, matching his tally from last season.

How will Cresswell help Dortmund?

Dortmund’s interest in the 23-year-old stems from the fact that they may be forced to overhaul their defence in the summer.

Niklas Süle is likely to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract, it is unlikely that Dortmund will be able to keep Aaron Anselmino at the end of his loan from Chelsea, while the contract situation around Nico Schlotterbeck remains up in the air.
