We finally have an update on the mysterious case of Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Chelsea winger hasn’t played since November 2024, when he tested positive for banned substances while on international duty with Ukraine.
He was subsequently charged in June 2025, but there has been no update since on his punishment. Incredibly, we’re only finding out about it now that Mudryk has challenged it in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The Athletic got confirmation from CAS that Mudryk has challenged the FA, who have banned him for four years. Multiple other sources told them that the former Shakhtar winger had tested positive for Meldonium, a banned substance.
Mudryk’s ban will be backdated to when he stopped playing 18 months ago. So he will be halfway through in November 2026. If he can get CAS to reduce it by 6 months or a year, he could feature the season after next.
However, despite his insistence that he didn’t take anything knowingly, the positive A and B samples don’t give him much grounds for appeal.
Romeo Lavia played well against Leeds on Sunday, and after the game spoke a little about what he and his teammates had considered “unacceptable” about their recent showings.
Strasbourg are on a good run in the transfer market, and have lined up another interesting prospect in South America.
