Cameroon assistant coach, Ashu Cyprian Besong, has said Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo is ‘frustrated’ by the delay of his proposed transfer to Manchester United.
Mbeumo has informed Brentford of his desire to join Manchester United, who have had two bids for the player rejected. The second offer was understood to be in the region of £62.5m, with Brentford demanding more for the Cameroon international.
Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season and added eight assists to emerge as a leading target for several sides. Despite rival interest, the 25-year-old has declared his desire to move to Old Trafford.
Brentford are under no pressure to sell and keen to extract the biggest possible fee for Mbeumo as the Bees prepare for a rebuild. The West London side have already lost head coach Thomas Frank to Tottenham and key figures in Mark Flekken and Christian Norgaard.
Besong has now provided an update on Mbeumo’s situation, revealing he has spoken to the winger about the transfer saga. He said Mbeumo is ‘frustrated’ by the lack of progress but remains ‘calm’ about how events will unfold.
“Yes, obviously he’s very frustrated with how long it’s taken. But he’s a professional and anticipates these things,” the Cameroon assistant told Telecom Asia
“I spoke to him about a week ago and he is very calm with everything that is going on. But of course, he’s already told them he wants to go to United. He just wanted the two clubs to find an agreement, as he’s very grateful for the opportunity that he’s been given by Brentford in his career.”
