Carrillo moves into ninth for foreign appearances at Corinthians

André Carrillo reached another significant milestone since arriving at Corinthians. In the 3-1 win over Grêmio last Saturday in the Brazilian Championship, the Peruvian came on in the second half and reached the mark of 96 appearances for the São Paulo club.

With that number, the midfielder is now among the ten foreign players who have worn the black-and-white shirt the most in the club’s history. He now holds ninth place in the ranking alongside Argentine Fausto Vera, who played for Corinthians between 2022 and 2024 before moving to Atlético Mineiro and later being loaned to River Plate.

The next benchmark for Carrillo to reach is Víctor Cantillo. The Colombian currently sits in eighth place on the list, with 118 matches played for the club. Considering the number of games Corinthians still have ahead this season, he could overtake him in the coming months.

Until the end of the year, the team has at least 24 matches guaranteed across the Brazilian Championship, the Copa do Brasil, and the Libertadores, a scenario that increases the Peruvian’s chances of moving up in the historical ranking.

At the top of the list, Paraguayan Ángel Romero remains well clear, with a remarkable career total of 377 matches for Corinthians. Right behind him are Fabián Balbuena, also from Paraguay, with 167 games, and Colombian Freddy Rincón, who ended his spell at the club with 158 appearances.

Among the players currently in the Corinthians squad, Rodrigo Garro also holds a prominent position. The Argentine has 134 games and sits fifth among the foreign players with the most appearances for the club, just four matches away from equaling José Hungarês, who is fourth on the all-time list.

After the win in Porto Alegre, Corinthians began the competition break due to the World Cup. The team is expected to resume competitive action in July, when they will return to national and continental competitions this season.
