Celtic chief scout Jay Lefevre is set to join Swansea City after six years in Glasgow.
Swansea City are set to appoint Celtic’s chief scout Jay Lefevre as part of their recruitment team.
Lefevre had previously had roles at Millwall, Brighton and Arsenal before he was approached by Celtic Head of Football Operations Nick Hammond back in 2019.
Since then, Lefevre has gone on to have an increasingly influential role at the Glasgow giants, and he has been overseeing the scouting department and producing reports on transfer targets.

Whilst the Glasgow giants have made some astute signings over the years, it’s fair to say that the fans have been increasingly frustrated at the way the club have operated in the market.
How much Lefevre is to blame for that is open to debate, as there is a feeling the board haven’t backed the likes of Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers over the years.
Rodgers in particular was vocal about the transfer strategy, and that is believed to have been a reason for his departure last month, which prompted stinging criticism from majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.
Nevertheless, the Celtic fans are calling for major change to the way the club is structured, and it appears one important figure is on the way out. That’s after The Herald revealed that Lefevre is set to link up with Swansea, which ends his six-year stay with the Scottish champions.
Obviously, the major news out of Swansea is the sacking of Alan Sheehan, and the main focus for the hierarchy is to bring in a new head coach that can steer the club in the right direction after their difficult start.

But, it’s still good to see that Swansea are working on enhancing the scouting department, and Lefevre arrives with a strong CV when you consider the calibre of clubs he has been at.
Of course, it’s difficult to judge exactly how good he is, as we don’t know how much say he had in transfers at Celtic, and whether his recommendations were supported.
So, it will be interesting to see how much say Lefevre has at Swansea, and he will no doubt try to build a close relationship with the head coach, as they need to be aligned when it comes to building a team.
The owners have shown they will spend to try and help the Swans reach the Premier League, and they will no doubt invest further in January, when the Welsh side will hope to be closer to the play-off places.
