Charles ended a five-game absence by starting in Corinthians' 3-1 defeat to Fluminense at the Maracanã in the ninth round of the Brasileirão.

According to Meu Timao, Dorival Júnior reinforced midfield in the absence of Memphis Depay and Gui Negão, restoring Charles to the line-up alongside Rodrigo Garro, Breno Bidon, Allan and André Luiz.

He completed 19 of 20 passes and was replaced at half-time by Matheus Pereira with Corinthians 2-0 down. Raniele, suspended, and André Carrillo, returning from the FIFA window, were also unavailable.

His previous outing had been on 25 February, a 1-1 draw at Cruzeiro, when he started and was withdrawn after 67 minutes with the team chasing an equaliser.

He then went unused in five straight games, defeats to Novorizontino 1-0 in the Paulista and Coritiba 2-0 in the league, plus draws with Santos, Chapecoense and Flamengo. The March FIFA window extended his time out to over a month.

Charles featured heavily early in 2026 after Maycon’s move to Atlético Mineiro and during José Martínez’s absence. He played seven of the first 10 matches, then only four of the next 10, for 627 minutes this year.

He is available for Sunday, when Corinthians host Internacional at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileirão, aiming to end an eight-match winless run.
