Chelsea are braced for a summer upheaval that could see a few big-name players leave the club.

There’s a decent chance that Malo Gusto could be one of them after French news publication L’Equipe reported that Manchester City are interested in the Frenchman.

The report claims that City have ‘recently inquired’ about the 23-year-old right back, who has a long-term contract with Chelsea.

It’s not enough to suggest a move is on the horizon, but it puts Gusto among a list of Chelsea players who could be making way this summer.

The Blues will need to sell to balance their books after failing to qualify for the Champions League, and a lot of European clubs will be looking to take advantage.

Gusto’s links to City are hardly surprising, especially with former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca set to replace Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

The France international, who is set to represent his country at the World Cup, was one of Maresca’s most trusted lieutenants during the Italian manager’s Chelsea days.

A reunion at the Etihad isn’t far-fetched, although neither Chelsea nor Gusto have shown any indication that they’re ready to cut ties this summer.

Gusto isn’t the only key Chelsea player linked with a summer exit.

The Blues have plenty of high-value assets in their team, including Enzo Fernandez, who has reportedly made it clear that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Interestingly, City are also among clubs reportedly considering a move for Fernandez, although any interested club will have to match Chelsea’s £120 million asking price.

At the moment, Chelsea haven’t made any such demands for Gusto, although they’ll want to make a significant profit from the £31m they paid to bring him in from Olympique Lyon.

Gusto made 49 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions last season, scoring three goals and chipping in with a further five assists.
