Chelsea co-owner Jose Feliciano has been speaking at a Bloomberg business conference today, where he decided to have a shot at Arsenal totally out of the blue.
He was asked about the vast, €407m, record breaking losses made by his team last year, and immediately tried to change the subject.
“Well, we just won two trophies last year. So, kind of depends a rough patch for whom. Arsenal haven’t won in 20 years since that I have checked.”
This isn’t quite right. Arsenal haven’t won the league for 20 years, but have won other things in the meantime. Chelsea haven’t won the league for 10 years. And neither the Conference League nor the Club World Cup last season really make up for that in the big picture.
Nor do they make up for €407m losses in a year.
It just feels like a stupid time to have a dig at Arsenal, who have built a far better team on a far more limited budget, and are about to win the Premier League.

Feliciano also said some worrying things about Chelsea’s own title potential, saying “someday” the Blues would compete again.
Another bright young talent has come through the academy and has signed a long term senior contract. A senior debut is coming soon.
Joao Pedro has praised Liam Rosenior for the effect his new manager has had on his form this season.
