Real Madrid will enter the market for a new midfielder in the summer transfer window after having failed to suitably replace club legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Signing a top midfielder is seen as one of the priorities before next season, along with reinforcing the centre-back position.

Several names have already emerged as possible targets, with Chelsea and Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez being one among them.

The 25-year-old midfielder is understood to have grown disillusioned at Stamford Bridge over the state of the team as well as the recent managerial change, leading to speculations over his future.

Enzo Fernandez on his future

Currently set to fly away to represent Argentina in the international break, Enzo spoke to the media wherein he discussed the links to Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old midfielder made it clear that there have been no talks held between himself and the Spanish capital club.

“No, honestly, nothing. Zero talks,” Enzo said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

And while the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner insisted that he was fully focused on Chelsea currently, he left the door open for a transfer after the World Cup in the summer.

“Now we’re focused on Chelsea and what’s left of the last few games this season and then we’ll see after the World Cup,” Enzo stated.

This is not the first time that the Chelsea vice-captain has dropped hints about a possible move away from Chelsea at the end of the season.

However, signing him could prove to be a costly affair as Chelsea spent more than €100 million to acquire him and have him tied down to a contract until 2032.

But there is a possibility that Real Madrid could drive the asking price down by offering a player in exchange, with Eduardo Camavinga being touted as a possible candidate.
