The pair both arrived at City and played a key role as we finished runners-up to Arsenal.
22-year-old creative midfielder Cherki signed from Lyon last summer and immediately took to life in English football, scoring four goals and providing 12 assists in 33 league appearances.
The No.10 was second for the Playmaker of the Season award and even earned the Etihad Player of the Month for his performances in December.
Semenyo moved from Bournemouth in January and made an instant impact to Pep Guardiola’s side.
The 26-year-old attacker scored 17 goals in total in the Premier League, with seven of those coming for City after moving to the Etihad Stadium.
Outside of the league, he also made himself a hero in the FA Cup final with a brilliant instinctive flick to win the Wembley showpiece.
The pair are on an eight-man shortlist, with Leeds’ Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, Chelsea man Joao Pedro, Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens, Bournemouth’s Adrien Truffert and Sunderland midfielder Granit Xhaka also nominated.
Voting closes at midday on Friday 29 May with the winner to be announced by the Premier League at 12:00 on Monday 1 June.
