Leicester City’s 2016 title winners reunited at the King Power Stadium and beat an All-Stars side on penalties, Conrad Logan saving two before Christian Fuchs struck the winner. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the occasion marked 10 years since their Premier League triumph.
Chances were scarce. David Nugent and Leonardo Ulloa came closest for City, while Cameron Jerome and Joel Ward threatened for Tony Pulis’ team. With the match goalless after 90 minutes, the shoot-out decided it.
Ben Hamer read Jerome’s first-half chip and gathered. Wes Morgan and Robert Huth were composed together at centre-back. Fuchs raided down the left early on before making way.
Daniel Amartey started at right-back, then moved into midfield after Andy King departed early. Danny Drinkwater threaded neat passes and drew warm applause. Jeffrey Schlupp was energetic but lacked the finish.
Marc Albrighton delivered trademark back-post crosses. Nugent ran tirelessly and Ulloa held the ball up well, attacking deliveries. Liam Moore was busy at right-back and saw a second-half effort deflected.
Nathan Dyer’s pace caused problems, though his left-footed strike on 82 minutes was weak. Marcin Wasilewski relished the physical battles. Yohan Benalouane quickly fouled Dwight Gayle soon after coming on.
