Corinthians beat Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday night to claim their first win of the 2026 Brasileiro. The result lifted them off the foot of the table and prevented them from matching their longest winless run in the competition. Meu Timao reports that the breakthrough came after a barren spell.
Their worst sequence in the league came between July and August last year, six matches without a victory, comprising draws with Cruzeiro, Botafogo and Fortaleza and defeats to São Paulo, Juventude and Bahia.
Before this win, their last success had been the Majestoso on 20 November, a 3-1 triumph featuring two from Yuri Alberto and one from Memphis Depay.
Since then they had drawn with Botafogo and Juventude and lost to Cruzeiro, Fortaleza and Bahia. This victory also ended a three-game run without beating the side from Bragança Paulista.
Corinthians had last overcome Bragantino on 16 January 2025, the Paulista opener, winning 2-1 at the Nabi Abi Chedid through goals by Talles Magno and Pedro Raul.
They end the night outside the relegation zone, sitting provisionally 12th in the Brasileiro. Next up is São Bernardo on Sunday in the Paulistão.
