Corinthians defender excited about possible Internacional move

Defender Félix Torres, who belongs to Corinthians, landed in Porto Alegre last Thursday night (15th) to sign his loan contract with Internacional until the end of the current season. The number 3 lost his place in the Corinthians squad mainly in the second half of the year, already under Dorival Júnior's command, and became the last option among the defenders.

The Central do Timão has learned, in fact, that the Ecuadorian was no longer inspiring confidence in the board and coaching staff regarding his performance on the field. In an interview with journalist Lucas Collar at the airport, already in the south of the country, Félix Torres revealed that he had already accepted the offer from the team from Rio Grande do Sul on December 31, 2025, in a conversation with Fabinho Soldado, now the football executive at Internacional, who left Corinthians after the 2025 Copa do Brasil title.

“Very happy, I was anxious to be here. Thank God everything worked out and we are ready to arrive and start working with the team. I’m very happy because everything I wanted was done. So, I’m here and now at the disposal of the team and the coach. Actually, thanks also to everyone for the reception on social media. It really motivated us to come here as well.”

“I spoke (with Fabinho Soldado and Paulo Pezzolano) on December 31. Since that day I said yes. I had already given my word that I would come and it was very comfortable to receive that call. Then I already wanted to be here right away. The message is that I’m going to work hard and that we’re going to fight for all the goals that Inter has for this year,” he said.

Corinthians and Internacional will split the payment of the player's salary and, in the contract, there is an undisclosed amount for a purchase option. The main obstacle, until now, for the player’s move was a debt of R$ 2.6 million owed by the club from Parque São Jorge to the Ecuadorian. Before leaving to sign with his new team, Félix Torres was on the bench for Corinthians last Sunday (11th), in the 3-0 win against Ponte Preta in Itaquera, in the first round of the Paulistão. He did not come off the bench.

Since his arrival at Corinthians in January 2024, Félix Torres never managed to establish himself at Parque São Jorge. As previously mentioned, the player lost his place mainly in the second half of the year, when he played only two matches for Corinthians between late August and early December, without being called upon in the semifinals and final matches of the Copa do Brasil.

The Ecuadorian became the last option in a sector that includes: Gustavo Henrique, André Ramalho, Gabriel Paulista, João Pedro Thoca, and Cacá. His contract with Corinthians is valid until December 2027. The number 3 was acquired from Santos Laguna, Mexico, in January 2024, for R$ 40 million – something that resulted in a transfer ban from FIFA for the club a year and a half later.

In 80 matches (73 as a starter) wearing the Corinthians shirt, Félix Torres scored one goal. He was part of the team’s historic run in the 2024 Brasileirão, which climbed out of the relegation zone and secured a spot in the Pre-Libertadores, in addition to winning the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil, against Palmeiras and Vasco, respectively.
