Corinthians host CAPS guests at Neo Química Arena for Majestoso

The 1-1 draw between Corinthians and São Paulo last Sunday, in the third round of the Paulista Championship, went beyond what happened on the field. The classic match held at Neo Química Arena served as a stage for a social action by Timão aimed at raising awareness about mental health, reinforcing the stadium as a space of belonging, welcoming, and connection with the community.

According to the club, 45 users and professionals from the CAPS (Psychosocial Care Center) Infantojuvenil Aricanduva were invited to watch the Majestic. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of mental health care for life balance and show how collective experiences, like going to the stadium, contribute to reducing loneliness and strengthening social bonds.

In a video released by Corinthians TV, the guests had the opportunity to experience different activities at the Arena before the match started. The group visited the edge of the pitch and had access to the internal area of the stands, used by athletes during pre-game warm-ups. After the activity, the participants settled in the House of the People seats to watch the classic.

Among those present was Kamilly Lopes, a CAPS patient, who described the experience as transformative in her personal journey. A Corinthians fan since childhood, she recalled that her first visit to Neo Química Arena was a turning point in her life, serving as an incentive to resume treatment, return to studies, and reorganize her routine. For the young woman, Corinthians continues to be a fundamental support in her emotional recovery process.

“Being here today is a huge joy because I have been a Corinthians fan since I was little. I always dreamed of seeing this field up close, a place I saw so much on television; it's wonderful. Corinthians and CAPS helped my life in a gigantic way. Some time ago, I had very deep depression, and my uncle encouraged me: ‘Camille, let's go to the Arena, I'll take you to watch the game.’ It was my first time at the stadium, and I think I never cried so much. After that day, I sought to resume my treatment at CAPS, went back to work and study. A trip to the Arena totally changed my life. I have no words to describe how much Corinthians saves me to this day”, she commented.

Sônia Andrade, Manager of the Corinthians Social Responsibility Department, stated that the action is part of the club's effort to broaden the debate on mental health without prejudice. According to her, discussing the topic is essential to reinforce that caring for the mind is part of integral health, in addition to recognizing the work developed daily by CAPS professionals, who directly impact the population's quality of life.

“Our goal is to talk about mental health and reinforce the importance of discussing this issue without taboos. We need to show that mental health is not a myth: taking care of the mind is taking care of the individual's health in an integral way. We are working with the Infantojuvenil CAPS, and it is essential to value the work of professionals who work in these centers. They play an essential role because they directly contribute to improving the quality of life of our population”, she said.

Jaqueline Stefanie, a physical education professional at CAPS Infantojuvenil Aricanduva, also highlighted the social relevance of the initiative. She explained that many users would not be able to experience such activities independently and that actions like this, especially during White January, help to increase autonomy, promote new interactions, and integrate young people into environments different from their usual routine.

“The club can help CAPS as a social form, as our users often do not have the opportunity to come here on their own. Therefore, actions like this, especially in White January, are fundamental. Being here with them allows them to get to know the space, interact with new people, and, above all, gain more autonomy”, she commented.

Hélio Lima, a workshop instructor at the Aricanduva unit, emphasized the symbolism of the action by highlighting Corinthians as a popular club. For him, occupying the Neo Química Arena with historically marginalized people represents a concrete way to guarantee rights, promote inclusion, and reaffirm that the stadium belongs to everyone, especially those who face daily challenges.

“Corinthians is the people's team. And understanding this is to comprehend that the people need to occupy this space, which belongs to everyone: to those from the outskirts, to those who are black, and to those who are in the daily struggle. An action like this, with the CAPS and therapeutic residences people, is fundamental to bringing people who are often invisible to society. Being here with them is guaranteeing rights, allowing them to occupy what is theirs by right. It's surreal, I'm even speechless”, he said.

Created in 2014, White January is a national campaign that seeks to raise awareness about the importance of mental and emotional health. Using the beginning of the year as a symbol of renewal, the initiative encourages reflections, planning, and mind care, focusing on preventing disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Throughout 2025, Neo Química Arena also hosted other social actions promoted by Corinthians. Among them were lectures on Pink October, debates related to femicide and violence against women, reflections on food waste and food insecurity in the country, as well as events linked to Black Consciousness Day, reinforcing the club's social role beyond football.
