Santos believe Gabigol could face Corinthians in Paulistão derby | OneFootball

Gabigol’s involvement in the Corinthians derby will depend on how he comes through training over the next two days.

According to Globo.com, there is confidence he will be available for Thursday’s 19:30 Brasília time kick-off at Vila Belmiro, in the fourth round of the Paulistão.

He is scheduled to work with the ball as normal on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The club’s marquee signing, the centre forward played the full 90 in the opener against Novorizontino and scored in the 2-1 win.

In the second round against Palmeiras, he came on after the interval but could not help avoid a 1-0 defeat.

Carrying tendinitis, he was left out of Sunday’s match against Guarani to be in better condition for the year’s first home derby for the Peixe.

Both sides have four points from three rounds and need victory to stay inside the quarter-final places. After the derby, Santos have only four fixtures left to shape their state campaign.
