Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho and André have been suspended by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva, and Corinthians have been hit with a one-match loss of home advantage and fines totalling R$ 112,000. According to Globo.com, the rulings were issued on Friday.

The punishments relate to incidents in Sunday’s derby with Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena. André received a one-match ban for an obscene gesture towards Andreas Pereira, Matheuzinho was given four matches for punching Flaco López, and Hugo Souza got two for post-match criticism of the referee, alleging he favoured one team.

Midfielder Breno Bidon and goalkeeper coach Luiz Fernando dos Santos were unanimously cleared over the mixed-zone fracas. The case was heard by the STJD’s 3rd Disciplinary Commission, with all penalties applying to national competitions.

Corinthians were fined R$ 2,000 for a delayed restart, R$ 10,000 for a drone that dropped a stuffed pig and a kite line that interrupted play, and R$ 20,000 for post-match disorder. A separate R$ 80,000 fine was issued after a Corinthians supporter racially abused goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, alongside the home-match sanction.

Corinthians will seek a suspensive effect to have Hugo Souza available on Saturday at Vitória in Salvador at 20:00 Brasília time, in the 12th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. They are next due at Itaquera on 26 April against Vasco, in round 13.
