Rodrigo Garro will try to extend his scoring form when Corinthians face Peñarol at 21:30 on Thursday at Campeón del Siglo in the Copa Libertadores group stage. The fixture is the fifth round of Group E.

As reported by Meu Timao, the trip offers him a chance to maintain momentum. He scored Corinthians' goal in Sunday's 16th round defeat to Botafogo at Nilton Santos, ending a 19-match wait to find the net.

He now aims to score in successive games for the first time since late November 2024. He netted in wins over Vasco, twice, and Criciúma in the Brasileirão, part of the surge that pulled the club clear of danger and clinched a place in the following season’s preliminary Libertadores.

Across the 71 matches since, he has not managed a scoring streak. During 2025 he lost minutes amid injuries and selection calls, with Dorival Júnior pushing Breno Bidon higher in midfield and limiting the Argentine’s time on the pitch.

Under Fernando Diniz he is enjoying a resurgence. Sunday’s goal completed three straight appearances with at least one goal contribution for Corinthians, his first such run at Parque São Jorge and the third of his professional career.

Corinthians top Group E and are already through to the last 16. A draw in Uruguay would confirm first place and secure home advantage for the second leg in the next round.
