Corinthians slip to 12th in Brasileirão, see latest standings

Corinthians returned to the field for the Brazilian Championship on the night of this Sunday, 28, hosting Flamengo at Neo Química Arena in a match valid for the 25th round of the competition. After abusing offensive errors in the first half, including a penalty missed by Yuri Alberto, the Alvinegro opened the scoring early in the second half with the number 9, but ended up suffering a turnaround, losing by 2 x 1.

Thus, the People's Team maintained the 29 points earned in the competition, now adding seven victories, eight draws and ten losses, in addition to 25 goals scored and 31 goals conceded. The setback caused Corinthians to fall in the championship standings, ending Sunday in 12th place. This position can still change, as Ceará faces São Paulo at the end of the round and, with a draw, surpasses the Alvinegro.

The distance of Timão in relation to its state rivals also changed for the worse. Palmeiras, for example, occupies the third position in the Brasileirão with 49 points. Mirassol is in fourth place with 42 points. São Paulo is seventh with 35 points, two positions ahead of Red Bull Bragantino, which has 32 points.

In addition, Corinthians remains ahead of Santos in the table, as the coastal team occupies the 16th position in the table with 27 points.
