Corinthians striker shares hopes for the Women's Under-20 Copinha

On the evening of last Tuesday, October 7, Corinthians learned the details of their group in the Women's Under-20 Copinha, which will take place between September 3 and 20, in a draw held at Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu. The Brabinhas, who will be seeking their first title in the tournament, are in Group A (based at Parque Ceret) alongside Flamengo (RJ), Aliança (GO), and Criciúma (SC).

During the event, forward Rayane Pontes, captain of the Corinthians Women's Under-20 team, gave an exclusive interview to Meninas do Timão and was asked about her current form and shared her expectations for competing in Brazil's most important youth tournament representing the Corinthians jersey.

“I am very happy with everything I have been building. I think that from what I went through last year to this year, it's a huge evolution. And I have been working hard, dedicating myself to the fullest, and I think it's the result of a lot of hard work. I think we are prepared. We have been having a very good, very intense season. And about myself, I think it's about staying focused and continuing to work. Keep giving everything I can to help Corinthians a lot,” she began.

In total, the tournament will consist of 20 teams, with five groups of four teams each. In the first phase, the clubs will face each other in a single round. For the quarterfinals, the five group leaders will qualify, along with the three best runners-up.

Later, the center forward commented on her leadership role in the squad – where she wears the captain's armband – and revealed that she looks up to forward Jhonson, 19, who has been one of the main highlights of the first team in 2025. This year, she has already scored nine goals and is the third top scorer of the team considering the mentioned period.

“I am very happy doing this, and I think the importance is to pass on a little of what I know. I strive, I feel, for all those who are starting now, and I hope I can pass on to them a little of everything I have already experienced and am experiencing at Corinthians. We talk a lot about this, and I think it's a mirror for everyone in the youth (Jhonson), who aims to be, who aims to live the professional life. We have a very good exchange, and I think it's a healthy relationship, both she helps me and I help her”, she concluded.

With a contract until December 2026, Rayane has 51 games considering the Corinthians Women's Under-17 and 20 categories, with 20 goals scored – 27 wins, eight draws, and 16 losses.
