Corinthians taunted Palmeiras on social media after a 1-0 win at Allianz Parque in the third phase of the Women’s Copa do Brasil. Gabi Zanotti struck late to send the Brabas through at their rivals’ ground.

According to Meu Timao, the club posted two messages referencing the result soon after full-time. One used a classic internet meme, a giant figure bearing the Corinthians crest peering at a much smaller Palmeiras emblem and joking that the latter looked bigger in photos. It was their third win in six visits to Allianz Parque since 2020, the sole defeat coming in June 2022 in the Brasileirão.

The second post showed a pitchside photo of the stadium screen with a farewell message, a nod to the result. The hosts were defending the cup they won last year.

Corinthians now await their last 16 opponents. Also through are Atlético-MG, Atlético-PI, Bahia, Botafogo, Coritiba, Cruzeiro, Ferroviária, Flamengo, Fluminense, Instituto 3B, Internacional, Itabirito, Red Bull Bragantino and Vasco. The final place will be decided by Mauaense v São Paulo in July.

The win came hours after the board settled overdue image rights with the squad. It was also their final official outing before the World Cup pause.

Corinthians are set to return on 17 July, against Ferroviária in the Paulistão, and have friendlies with the United States Under-23s on 5 and 9 June.
