Corinthians will reinstate an assistance service for travelling supporters after an incident in Florianópolis, with acting president of the Conselho Deliberativo, Leonardo Pantaleão, to oversee the programme.
According to Globo.com, Gaviões da Fiel said a Santa Catarina military police escort forced fans’ buses to use the right lane, despite the left being free, delaying arrival at Ressacada. Many only entered in the final minutes of the first half of the Copa do Brasil first leg against Barra.
Pantaleão will liaise with authorities and host clubs to organise the reception, accompaniment and treatment of Corinthians fans at stadiums when the team play away outside the state of São Paulo.
He will sometimes travel in advance, and on other occasions join the delegation, depending on need.
He is set to travel with the team to Bogotá on Monday, with Corinthians facing Santa Fe two days later in the fourth round of the Conmebol Libertadores.
The next commitment requiring his intervention is against Botafogo at the Engenhão on 17 May, in the 16th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Pantaleão has fulfilled this role before, having coordinated the Conselho Deliberativo’s Grupo de Apoio ao Torcedor (GAT) and performed similar duties while legal director. President Osmar Stabile asked him to resume the work, and football executive Marcelo Paz also spoke with him to facilitate delivery.
