Corinthians are moving to terminate Héctor Hernández’s contract, with talks progressing towards a positive outcome and a projected saving of around R$ five million on wages. According to Meu Timao, the agreement has not yet been finalised.
The 30-year-old forward is under contract until December 2026, but has been separated from the squad since August 2025.
He signed in August 2024 after impressing for Chaves, scoring 21 in 58. He briefly shone under Dorival Júnior, netting the first goal of the Dorival era in a 1-0 win over Novorizontino. He has not featured since the 1-1 draw with Grêmio on 12 June in the league, a lay-off now exceeding seven months.
After his removal from first-team plans, Dorival declined to go into detail and referred the matter to the club hierarchy. Former executive Fabinho Soldado said the player had received enquiries but stayed, training at different times.
Centre-back Renato and midfielder Alex Santana are training apart after loans at Atlético-GO and Grêmio, and are not in Dorival’s plans as they await offers.
Despite Ángel Romero and Talles Magno leaving in 2026, he remained out as academy forwards Dieguinho, Gui Negão and Kayke emerged in late 2025. Corinthians welcomed Pedro Raul back, are in advanced talks for Kaio César of Al Hilal, and still seek attackers.
Hernández made 24 appearances for Corinthians, starting 10, with two goals and one assist. He was part of the squads that won the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil last season.
