Shortly before kickoff for Serie A’s 16th matchday, the atmosphere at the Allianz Stadium is electric.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma team takes to the field in Turin with a clear objective: to consolidate their position in the Champions League qualification zone and send a strong message to the league.
Speaking to Sky Sport, Bryan Cristante charted the course, analyzing the Giallorossi’s recent performance and the crucial importance of the match against Spalletti’s Juventus.
Roma’s recent journey has been marked by ups and downs, from the disappointment in Cagliari to the solidity shown in the victory against Como. Cristante makes no bones about it, offering a clear assessment of the team’s current form: “We played on equal terms against Napoli, even if it wasn’t our best performance. In Cagliari, however, things went less well than usual,” admitted the Giallorossi number 4.
“However, in such a long and demanding season, a bad day can happen. What really matters is the ability to react immediately, just as we did.”
Tonight’s match is unlike any other. A win would allow Roma to soar to 33 points, opening a seven-point gap over Juventus, who are stuck on 26.
Cristante recognizes the intrinsic value of this head-to-head match: “Juve didn’t start very well, but they’re still a team fighting for the same goals we want to achieve.
Winning today wouldn’t just mean three points, but a great victory in terms of morale and the league table.”
With Hermoso absent in defense, Cristante’s experience in midfield will certainly be important for Gasperini in his attempt to contain the Bianconeri.
