Manchester United have so far announced three new signings, but in reality, the club have signed one additional player.

Cristián Orozco was recently in Manchester to undergo a medical while he put pen to paper on his long-term contract with the Red Devils.

The Colombian wonderkid is highly rated, and further proof of INEOS’ emphasis on tapping into the South American market.

A defensive midfielder by trade, the 18-year-old already has five senior appearances for Fortaleza CEIF under his belt, and he was also the skipper of Colombia’s Under-17 international team.

Cristian Orozco explains his playing style

In a recent interview with ESPN Colombia (as relayed by Sport Witness), he was asked about his strengths and what he will bring to United once he joins.

His answer was full of confidence, but he also mentioned how important adapting to his new home will be for him to showcase his full set of skills in due time.

“I know my strengths are my physicality and my technique. I have those qualities and, with the gift God gave me, I don’t think it will be too difficult. But everything is about adapting. I’m very young and that’s what I’ll need to do.

“I want to arrive and learn as quickly as possible. That’s what’s required so I can show my level and everything I’m capable of. I want to adapt to everything that comes my way as quickly as possible,” Cristian Orozco explained.

As United have done with Sekou Kone and Diego Leon in the recent past, Cristian Orozco is likely to stay at Carrington this season instead of being sent out on loan.

He will mostly ply his trade for United’s Under-18s and Under-21 teams, while learning English and getting to grips with the English game. He already met his new teammates last year, and was given a tour of the club’s facilities.

“I expect to learn a lot of English. When I was there, I realised just how, how important it is,” he said.

United fans are eagerly awaiting the club’s official announcement on the Colombian’s signing, and they will be hoping that the midfield gem can hit the ground running.
