Crystal Palace have completed the signing of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen (25) from Wolves in a club-record deal worth up to £48m.

The 25-year-old Norway international has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park and will wear the number 22 shirt, BBC Sport reports.

Palace moved for Strand Larsen with Jean-Philippe Mateta initially set to leave the club for AC Milan. However, that transfer was later called off after concerns were raised during Mateta’s medical, meaning the France forward will now remain at Palace.

Despite a difficult season at Wolves, where he has scored one Premier League goal in 22 appearances, Palace believe Strand Larsen can rediscover the form that made him a key figure last season. The striker scored 14 goals in 35 games for Wolves before his move from Celta Vigo was made permanent last summer.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said the club were delighted to secure the striker, adding they believe he will be an important player for years to come.

Strand Larsen said he was excited to join Palace and is looking forward to bringing energy and goals to the team.

The Eagles also attempted to complete a loan move for Everton winger Dwight McNeil, but the deal collapsed after the necessary paperwork was not completed before the deadline.

Strand Larsen could make his Palace debut on Sunday in the Premier League match away to Brighton.
