Daniel Farke has not ruled out late business before Monday’s deadline, but says he will keep plans private to avoid driving up prices.
According to Leeds Live, Leeds look set to miss out on Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and could finish the window without adding a forward. The club are open to a back-up left-back, though an attacking recruit remains the priority. Leeds do not intend to go above £40m for Strand Larsen, while Crystal Palace are prepared to pay more, with a deal close.
Farke said it is their responsibility to assemble the best possible squad for the run-in, adding they can afford to be picky given current form. He will not expand the squad size and prefers not to discuss targets publicly, noting options are limited and disclosure could inflate fees.
He described this market as challenging because Leeds are operating at Premier League level and in a good position, so genuine upgrades are hard to find and can be costly. He does not want the club to overpay or jeopardise future plans. Farke added the club understands what is needed and that he is happy to have Facundo Bonanotte involved.
Lukas Nmecha will miss Saturday’s match against Arsenal with a hamstring issue, but is only expected to sit out one game, so plans are unchanged. Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jaka Bijol are also out this weekend with adductor and hamstring problems respectively, with Gudmundsson a possible return for next Friday’s Nottingham Forest trip and Bijol likely to be longer. Daniel James has returned to full training after a hamstring injury and could be involved, with Farke set to handle his return carefully.
